We have a few favourites, but the best place to eat locally (with the exception of Table D’hotes at L’Ancienne Boucherie of course ha ha) is Le Chalet des Pierre Jaumâtres. It’s elevated aspect overlooking the Creuse Valley and fabulous food make for a great meal out. In addition it is located next to the Pierre Jaumâtres rock formations, which are worth a see.
We have visited Le Chalet des Pierre Jaumâtres a couple of times with friends and for special occasions and have always been delighted with the food we have eaten. Everyone agrees it’s one of the best places to eat locally. To make a reservation go to their website at https://lespierresjaumatres.fr/ or to check out their menu.
It is pleasant prior to or after the meal to take a walk up to Pierre Jaumâtres as the rock formations and views over the Creuse are spectacular. You do need good walking shoes as the paths through the woods are particularly rocky and uneven, but worth the trek.
We went mid week, so the area around the rocks were quiet so we could get some good pictures.
A graphic back at the restaurant tells you how the rock formations were formed, with the ground around them gradually eroding away.
Afterwards you can have a game of crazy golf or attempt some rope courses through the tree tops!
Great for a day out with the kids, followed by a hearty lunch at the best place to eat locally!
