Moutier D’Ahun

Moutier-d’Ahun is situated in the Creuse, Limousin region (now part of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region) and about 13 miles from our French Bed & Breakfast in Ladapeyre.

The pretty little French village of Moutier-d’Ahun nestles on the banks of the Creuse river with its medieval bridge and Romanesque church.

The church, the remains of a former Benedictine monastery boasts a Gothic style portal and is home to magnificent Baroque wooden panelling dating from the 17th century. Also of interest are the altarpiece with twisted columns and 26 carved stalls.

Guided tours are held on Tuesday afternoons in July and August at 15.30 pm.

Stroll through the village and on the opposite bank of the river you can sit and take in the lovely views of the river, village and church bell tower in the distance.

Or stop at the lovely bar/restaurant Le Marais and indulge in a lunchtime ‘menu du jour’ or an evening ‘planches tapas’.
